The 40-foot tall LED tree was lit by Bulacan Governor Daniel Fernando, Vice Governor Alex Castro, 1st District Congressman Danny Domingo, 5th District Board Member Cesar Mendoza, Provincial Administrator Antoinette Constantino, and Provincial History, Arts, Culture and Tourism Office (PHACTO) Head Eliseo Dela Cruz.

Municipal tourism officers from Bustos, Calumpit, Hagonoy, and Paombong also attended the ceremony.

In his message, Dela Cruz emphasized the significance of the star atop the Christmas tree to Bulakenyos.

“Ang talang ito po ay magbibigay ng pag-asa sa bawat isang mamamayang Bulakenyo. Tala na bunga ng katatagan, pagsasakripisyo, at pagsisikap. Tala na simbolo ng panibagong anyo at mukha ng bawat isang bulakenyo," said the PHACTO head.

Castro, in his first tree-lighting ceremony as vice governor, also gave an inspiring message.

“Nawa sa gabing ito, maalala po natin ang isang payak na pamilya na nagdulot ng pinakadakila at mabuting balita ng kaligtasan,” he said.

Meanwhile, Fernando reminded everyone to be a shining light to others.

“Nawa po ang bawat isa ay magsilbing liwanag sa ating mga kapwa tulad ng bituing naging gabay ng tatlong hari sa kanilang paglalakbay upang makarating sa sabsaban. Sa huli, hinihikayat ko po ang bawat isa na maging pagpapala at biyaya sa ating mga kababayan,” said Fernando.

Prior to the event, Hiyas ng Bulacan Provincial Band, Himig ng Bulakenyo chorale, and Tawag ng Tanghalan contestants Arvie Centeno and Trixie Dayrit serenaded the crowd with their rendition of Christmas songs.

Moreover, a float parade by St. Joseph the Worker Parish of Meycauayan featuring acted biblical Christmas stories ran from Malolos Sports Complex to the capitol grounds.

The tree-lighting ceremony ended with a fireworks display that lasted for about three minutes.

The event was organized by PHACTO and was hosted by Hari at Reyna ng Sining at Kultura 2022 Rei Aldrich Gregorio and Rian Maclyn Dela Cruz.
