10 injured, 4 critical in firework factory blaze

An illegal firecracker factory exploded inside a residential area in Barangay Pulong Buhangin Sta. Maria, Bulacan, November 3.

Four people were in critical condition and are now admitted in hospital while 10 have minor injuries.


According to Sta. Maria chief of police Lieutenant Colonel Christian Alucod, eight out of ten injured individuals were working in the factory when the explosion hit around 1:45pm.


The desk officer of Barangay Pulong Buhangin reported that 20 homes were damaged, and the figures kept rising.


The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), and other rescue units from Sta. Maria responded immediately.


According to Brgy. Captain Raymond Castaneda, the factory didn't have any business permit from their office since 2015.


Meanwhile, the incident is still under investigation by the BFP and Bulacan PNP.
