Bulacan, Philippines — The number of hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) cases in Bulacan remained under control, the Public Health Office of Bulacan said on Wednesday, December 7.

According to the data from the Health Office, the Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit of Bulacan has consolidated a cumulative total of 94 suspected cases of HFMD gathered from January 1 to November 19, 2022.
It is 4.4 % higher compared to the case reported from the same period last year 2021 with 90% cases.
Data also shows the age range of the affected population from less than 1 year old to 30 years old.
As to sex distribution, 62% of them are male and 38% of them are female.
Despite the rising number of cases in different regions like Region , Calabarzon, and Region 5 including Metro Manila, the Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday, December 5 said there is no outbreak of HFMD but admitted they are seeing cases.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), HFMD is a common infectious disease for children. The common symptoms are fever, painful sore in the mouth,rashes with blisters on hand, foot, and buttocks.
According to Victoria R. Tiongson, RN, reports from after November 19 are still in progress, they are still waiting for the updated reports from different health facilities in Bulacan.
The Provincial Health Office of Bulacan reminded Bulakenyos to observe personal hygiene, take a bath, wear facemask and to disinfect schools, restaurants and public places.
