In line with the Bayanihan sa Barangay advocacy, financial and medical assistance were given to 31 senior citizen residents of Barangay San Gabriel who were bedridden and with illnesses by Malolos City Mayor Christian Natividad on November 10.

“Malaking tulong ito lalo na sa katulad naming maliit lang ang kinikita. Pandagdag din sa pambili ng pagkain at gamot para sa asawa kong na-stroke. Nakapagpa-check-up din ako nang libre at nakakuha ng libreng gamot para sa aking high blood,” said Felicidad Gatdula, a vendor.
[This is a big help especially for us who only earn a little. Also a supplement to buy food and medicine for my husband who had a stroke. I was also able to get a free check-up and free medicine for my high blood pressure.]
The offices from City Hall also launched free medical check ups, laboratory services, Covid-19 vaccinations, anti-rabies, and seminars.
This program was made possible through the collaboration of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), City Health Office, City Veterinary Office, City Health Office, City Training, Employment and Cooperative, and City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office.
Meanwhile, Natividad encouraged the city government staff to find out the problems that the constituents are going through and that the leader itself should be the first to respond.
"Tulong-tulong tayo rito dahil ito ang esensya ng bayanihan na gusto natin ipaalala sa mga Pilipino at Malolenyo. Isa lang ang sukatan ng tagumpay na makikita natin, dahil ang kadakilaan po ng isang bayan ay makikita lamang natin kung tayo mismong tagarito ay may malasakit sa mamamayan," Natividad said.
[We’ll help each other here as this is the essence of cooperation that we want to remind Filipinos and Malolenyos. It is a measure of success that we can see, because we can only see the greatness of a city if we ourselves from here care about the people.]
