Mayor Omeng Ramos together with other councilors spearheaded the lighting and countdown in front of the municipal hall.
Ramos said in an interview that this event was made to spark Christmas spirit in Sta. Maria.
Sta. Maria’s pride and Tawag ng Tanghalan Season 6 Semi Finalist Trixie Dayrit also performed in the event.
Mayor Omeng during his speech also asked for apologies as the stalls built by vendors caused a heavy traffic in the center of their town.
Dalawang taon. Kaya’t ngayong Pasko lang naman, pasensiya na do’n sa traffic,” the mayor said.
Some of the street vendors mentioned by Mayor Omeng lost their livelihood during the two years of the pandemic because they were not permitted to build stalls around the municipal hall.
The Christmas park and the giant parol will be open to the public starting today, November 17.
